Surfers live in freedom.

They do what they want to with no one to stop them. Something that I admire and wish I could. To not be afraid for the next wave. Just let it come towards me, take one deep breath and go for it. With their salted hair and sun kissed skin they seem happy and content. They don’t care about what the world thinks.

 

I’m glad I had the courage to approach them when I saw them in Portugal. Each one of them was unique, but they share their kindness and openhearted. I asked them if I could join to look at one session from the waterfront. Of course they were stoked, even when it was 6 in the morning. Afterwards I took a portrait of them. I could see the waves in their eyes and the urge to get back into the water.
